A request re: what to wear to IASSIST's 25th anniversary banquet ...

the future of data in the global network / IASSIST - CAPDU Annual Conference / Toronto, Canada, May 17-21, 1999]

As most of you know, this year's conference marks IASSISTs 25th anniversary.

Before you pack to come to the conference, we ask you to hunt out your oldest IASSIST t-shirt, conference bag and/or other similar paraphenalia (yoyos from Edinburgh, 3-ring binder from Ottawa in 1984, fanny-pack from Quebec, etc.) and bring them along to the conference. Plan to wear the t-shirt and carry the paraphenalia at the banquet. There will be sign-up sheets at/near the registration desk, so that we have a tally of who brought/will be wearing what. And if you have a few extras, that you might be willing to share with someone less fortunate (just for the evening of the banquet), please bring that too, but make sure it is clearly marked with your name so we can return the right t-shirts, etc., to the right owners afterwards. For example, Tony Falsetto has just come through with the last remaining unsold t-shirts from the Itasca conference in 1978, and we will be asking for volunteers to wear them.

"What?! -- A t-shirt to a $90.00 banquet???!!" I hear you ask! However, I think any of the IASSIST t-shirts should coordinate quite nicely with a tasteful black/dark cocktail/evening suit or similar, no?
